1953, legendary boxer Rocky Marciano defeated Jersey Joe Walcott by knockout in the first round to obtain his 44th win and to remain unbeaten. Marciano would stay undefeated throughout his career and finish with a record of 49-0. He is the only professional boxer to ever finish his career undefeated having retired in 1956.
This bout was the second between Marciano and Walcott with the first occurring just 8 months earlier in September when Rocky also won that fight by knockout. However, Jersey Joe would stay alive until the 13th round in that one.
