The 2018 MLB Draft begins Monday, June 4, and the Detroit Tigers have the #1 pick. While many experts are predicting Casey Mize, a right-handed pitcher from Auburn, will be selected with that top pick, it’s anybody’s guess what type of professional career he will have. There’s a ton of pressure that goes along with being the #1 overall pick and some have become Hall of Famers while others have retired before reaching the bigs.

Let’s take a look down memory lane, with Topps baseball rookie cards as our guides, at the complete history of players selected first overall.
