Christian Yelich has done it again! Last night he once again proved that he is one of the premier hitters in baseball after hitting for the cycle in a 6-hit performance against the Cincinnati Reds. His cycle was only the second cycle of the 2018 season and the first one to occur in a 6-hit barrage since Ian Kinsler did it in 2009.

A member of the Marlins organization since being drafted by them 23rd overall in the 2010 MLB Draft, he was traded to the Brewers in January 2018 for a 4-prospect package. Yelich, like many of the other Marlins that have since left the team, was the subject of endless trade rumors and speculation but he never let that deter him from performing at a high standard on the field.

Christian made his MLB debut in 2013 and maintained his starting role with the Marlins until the 2018 trade. His first full season was 2014 and since that year he has hovered around the .300 batting average mark. But, 2016 is really when his complete hitting prowess came to light as he started putting more balls over the fence to the tune of 20+ home runs per year!

While he’s continued to showcase his hitting skills, the hobby hasn’t really shown much love to Yelich outside of the prospect community. It’s easy to see why though as he spent the early years in Miami and in the shadows on Giancarlo Stanton. It was easy to overlook Yelich for those reasons. now that he’s the biggest name on the Brewers roster, it may be time for his cards to see a significant rise in value!

A change in scenery has done wonders for Yelich as 2018 is turning out to be his most productive season yet. He has already topped his career high in home runs (currently at 26, career high was 21) and he’s close to besting his career high RBI mark, too (currently at 75, career high is 98). Oh, and he’s batting .319, 19 points above his career high and 24 points above his career average.

This may finally be the year the collecting world takes notice of Christian Yelich!
